Microsoft to host Windows 8 Consumer Preview on Feb. 29 | Microsoft - CNET News
Well, Windows 8’s release schedule gets a new milestone! What does this mean for us? It means there may be new information, procedures, configurations, designs, etc., etc., in this release. So, if you’re already using the Developer’s Preview released at BUILD back in September 2011, you’ll want to download and install this latest preview.
Another important note: The Developer’s Preview wasn’t called this, but a lot of folks referred to it as an Alpha release, to distinguish it from the more well-known Beta type releases that are common to technology products. Well this new Consumer Preview is being referred to as the Beta release, even though Microsoft isn’t calling it that.
